ESM State of Maine test shots II

Just got the latest XIH test shots via UPS from overseas.  Only one very minor issue left.  All the major issues from the first test shots have been fixed.  Photos later tonight with detail highlights.

Correction - no minor issues left, the tooling is complete.  Following are the full side profiles (right-click and view jpegs separately to see pics 50% larger than the size here):

Note that the orientation of the door latch is different on both sides.

Here's a photo of the bolster detail.  The offset truck pin hole is to accommodate the off-center design of the MTL truck and allow for proper positioning.

The rivets have been added to the cross beams of the roof.

Here's a close-up of the finished vent.

And finally, a close-up of the B-end with all the detail parts attached.

All set to proceed to the next stage, thrusters on full.

For those unfamiliar with the dimensions of the XIH juxtaposed with other equipment, some comparison photos are below.

With the Atlas USRA wood boxcar:

With the InterMountain AAR 1937 boxcar (lowered):

With the Micro-Trains 50' PS1 boxcar (lowered):

Man that is hot. I wonder if these ever ran with Borden Milk cars.

Well, now that this car is complete, time to start working on the X58, eh?  ;D

The tooling is complete.  Still some artwork to do.  Here's one of my favorites, scheduled for late summer 2010:

Where did you find the photo for this?

Courtesy of either the PCHS or CRHS photo archives, don't remember which at this point.  The respective historical societies have been involved in the project for a while.

I think the States of Maine are going to be stunners as well, especially the `50s black-end versions.  But there will still be a few unexpected schemes appearing toward the end of next year.

Also, none of the historical societies have been able to uncover photos of these two schemes and I haven't been able to find them, so if anyone could supply them I would appreciate it:

* CR standard freight car red with can-opener herald
* CR ex-NH block re-stencil
