You'll need some Boise Budds or 300/1300s to pull that with! Will it be in Easter Egg or the inverted maroon?
Oh, and is that ARR unit the one that had been on lease to MCER in the 90s?

This F10 will be painted in Cape Cod Railroad as it was seen in 1998. The ARR unit is the one seen in and round Palmer around the same time.

Well started playing with my first brass kit

I must applaud the fine design and engineering of Traincat's work it's just a pity I can't say the for my attempt to construct it

Also started playing in corel draw to do some artwork for some etching tests
The idea is to etch the front bit of my weed burner car build

Thanks, Chuck!  I'll be glad to post more pictures, including an overall shot, but to be truthful, at a whopping 2' x 3', you've just about seen it all in the two pictures I posted yesterday.  ;D  Seriously, I've tried to build it with scenic dividers (hills, future trees) to break it up into at least three separate viewing areas.  Not unlike railfanning three separate locales, that should make the layout feel larger... well, at least in pictures.

What brand/color paint did you use on #124?

That's actually factory paint on an Atlas GP40.  I didn't spend a lot of time trying to capture a magazine cover quality shot, so the color is likely off in the photos.  I would guess #124 may appear a tad lighter (especially the first picture) than the locomotive appears in person.

I recently ordered a Rio Grande book from Karen's Books and found myself, quite spontaneously, ordering a couple RF&P books as well.  In looking at that GP40 I'm wondering if Atlas got the yellow handrail color wrong.  I think they should be white or gray.  Either way, the unit looks sharp!

Its Highball light grey ballast. On its own, its way too uniform and bright, but I added some washes of blackish brown paint between the ties and that toned down the brightness, added variation and weathered the track nicely too.

Dave, that looks awesome. RF&P model shots are too hard to come by.

Yeah I agree -to me it looks like grey sand, from your pic it looks much nicer than what probably is seen by the naked eye. I've been experimenting with S&S but I'd like something finer than 50 but larger than Highball. Highball black fine looks good in the yards but not on the mainline.
