Ooh, green silver stripe GG1s.

This makes me very happy.

Why? Not because I need one, but because it's illustrating the Kato "gets" that there were many GG1 schemes, and seems to be interested in doing them.

Shoot, I almost AM tempted to get one...

Yeah, I agree, Ed.  That GG1 is nice to see, but I also have no need for a GG1 at present.  That, unfortunately, means that, once again, nothing in the Kato monthly announcement is appropriate for this modeler of a couple of 1970s-1980s eastern U.S. railroads.  :(

Sort of more sad news, at least for me. It's been months since Kato has announced anything I'm remotely interested in. Like Dave, it's as if they very deftly bracket around my road(s) and era.

Truthfully, I'm getting pretty weary of all the modern stuff - if I want to see what's currently in operation, I go down to the tracks and watch the real thing. I spend a lot less money that way, and no squabbles with anyone whether the loco/car/operation/whatever properly follows the prototype.

Kato releases something useful to me every two or three years maybe.

I'm glad that there's nothing for me... still saving for those Atlas GP40-2W's that haven't been announced (or thought of) yet  ::)

I rode behind a GG1 in Amtrak black a few times, and photographed about a dozen or so of them while they were still under the wires. I wonder if Kato would ever release it in that scheme? If they did, I think I'd be sorely tempted to cave in and get one, even though I can't imagine my ever really needing one. It would strictly be a sentimental wanna-have. Otherwise, the only thing they've released of interest to me in the last few years was the NW2, and even then I'd have to paint it myself into a roadname of interest.

The 2 Maxi IV and the CSX coalporter should be enough for me. About time they reran the CSX coalporter, its been a long while. 4141 is tempting but no dice, got to save for the CSX Gevos that will be announce next month.

The funny thing is that Kato could do a really cool early AMTRAK set with some of their existing cars and the GG1s.

But it's so ugly, I doubt it'd sell in Japan.

The NS Coalporters are FOOBs right?

Are the CSX coalporters FOOBs too?

The single-stripe GG1s are very welcome.  No announcement or pics on the website yet though.
