Exactrail Gondolas

[CONRAIL FAN]

Anyone got any prototype info on these new Exact Rail gons coming out this month, the Gunderson 2,420 Gondola. The conrail ones interst me but i cannot find the time peroid that CR had these,as well as where they were used. Any ideas?

The HO CR gon looks awesome, even though it's a foob.  Hopefully the N scale version will be as well-rendered.  It's tempting!

yeah thats what i thought too. I looked and CR never had those just 52' and 65' gons. But they do look nice

I don't know, have you seen the HO one with the screwed up CR logo? You'd think they'd have fixed that after they screwed it up on the 60' boxcar, but no.

I just don't get it, so many 50' and 65' gons for the modern era, and they chose a 40' car. I don't know which bothers me more, that or the logo.

SP fans, were these things even that important to you?

I "forgot it" as soon as it was confirmed that the model was an SP-only prototype.

Instead look at the gon as a kitbash donor and switch your road from that darn queer Queen blue with a broken can opener on it to something with SUBSTANCE!!!!

Ya just buy two, cut them in half glue them back together with 14 panels per side then get your xacto knife out and go to town on it!! then you get this!!!

Meh...  Just to have a corrugated gon I might have considered getting it even if it is a foob, funding permitting.  And it's not like I can't easily fix the logo.  But this is a principle thing now; if they're not going to check their work then they don't need my cash for a foobie.

The situation might be different if this were a must-have CR car.

As long as it makes someone happy. And I agree with Dave, it's not like I won't be having plenty of foobies on the layout, but a screwed up logo like that ruins the "it's a cool looking car" factor for me. So I get to pass.

It's like the MTL bay window. I could forgive the foobieness of it, it was its awkward appearance I couldn't get over.

Anyone know what the point was behind the 42' cars? Were they replacing something else and SP needed cars that would fit some loading platform?

It seems odd, since 52' cars had been around for years.

The only time I've seen these cars, bTW, and this of course is in the 1990's was in MOW service and the placards had been removed and the lettering was moved way down to the bottom.
