Okay, i realize the logo is head-smackingly wrong. But for $deity sake, is it *really* that difficult to correct? Can't anyone handle using a fine detail brush with some white paint?

As for stretching a pair, does the interior show the corrugations too, or is it smooth?

Not really an issue, as you'd have to cut a few of these up to make a closer foob for Conrail anyway, and you'd need to strip it and paint it and decal it anyway. ;D

I don't model SP, but I'll likely wind up getting one since it's an interesting model. Even none ever had a reason to come to Toronto or Southern Ontario, cars do get misrouted. A less restricted prototype would have been nice, but it's already in the pipeline. IMO, Exactrail is a western RR centered company, so an SP only car isn't all that surprising.

I've asked santa for two in the ICG scheme (foobie though it is), but I may wind up with a digital SLR instead - since Santa saw one at our baby's playgroup's Halloween party and now has camera envy.

Instead look at the gon as a kitbash donor and switch your road from that darn queer Queen blue with a broken can opener on it to something with SUBSTANCE!!!!

Ya just buy two, cut them in half glue them back together with 14 panels per side then get your xacto knife out and go to town on it!! then you get this!!!

Nope.  Still not even close to the of-substance Pennsy prototype, which is why I wouldn't use it to model a Pennsy (or PC or Conrail) gon.  Plus, as stated earlier, you can't arbitrarily splice together 14 panels without checking the overall inside length to see if it conforms.  And, while we haven't seen the model yet, I'd wager that you'd have to keep it loaded at all times since the corrugations will be "absent" on the inside faces.

I'll pick up an SP car, since that's the prototype.  But it would take a lot of work to turn this into a 52-foot 12-panel fishbelly-sill Pennsy G43A, or a 65-foot 18-panel Pennsy G44

BTW, the E-R car is indeed a foobie for the 52-foot G43A.  The three road numbers they're doing are 607302, 607330 and 607345.  I couldn't find pics of those numbers, but I did find pics of these immediate sister cars:

I'd mentioned before that it's an easy fix.  Very easy.  The point is that this is the second time they've screwed up the logo (see their 60' auto parts box).  Ironically, MTL made this same mistake on a CR box earlier this year.

For a company with as presumptous a name as Exact Rail one woul expect more dilligence.  Now, to be fair, Exact Rail donated 6 covered hopper cars to the raffle layout we're building here at Offutt.  They're great folks.  But it's clear they're not applying the same level of care to their Eastern offerings as, say, their SP stuff.

I've been known to kitbash Pennsy steam in N; this isn't about the level of work.  It's about quality control.

SP fans, were these things even that important to you?

Nope.  But if I were modeling the '70s I'd get a few since it looks like a nice model.  Hardly essential though, and I agree that the CR logo error is lame. 

Of the 5 N models they've put out now, 2 have been very niche (the Gon and the Vert), 1 was unnecessary (5161), and 2 have been solid (both boxcars). I have a few of the FBOX hi-cubes and they're very nice - I just wish they made the floor removable instead of the roof.
