Time to get some of my undec's assigned . I always thought that the cab of the CC 2-10-2 looked literally out of place , and appeared to be hanging in mid air which detracted from the natural look , so I added some under cab crap which helps hide the drawbar and makes the loco flow into the tender . Changed out the cab windows as well . The brownish is not really there .

Finally finished the "Crossley Lake" - a Great Northern "Ranch" series coffee shoppe car.

"Crossley Lake" is another brass side effort; I think I'm starting to get the hang of these...

The cars downside is the fact that it needs a great deal of work to build the interior; perhaps more so than plastic cars due to the thin walls and almost flush thin windows you can see into the car. I built the interior in two pieces; a hallway-kitchen end and the dining area. It has the correct number of tables and chairs from a GN diagram I found. There are 12 partons in the car.

One thing I tried was making a photo reduced ventian blind for the windows. The prototype has these blinds so I found a picture on the web; recoloured them to better match the GN prototypes and then reduced the image. I then stepped the image on a sheet so that the window blinds would be in varying positions.

It's not too obvious in the pictures but the effect is pretty good in person. Here's what they look like.

What would be interesting would be to print the image on clear plastic... hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

On to another car..after xmas that is.........

Finally:

.....with a star upon their tree and the warmth of the season in their soul; the men of the mill pause to celebrate Christmas before their nightly shunt duties call them back into the cold...

Merry Christmas and best of the season to all from the Puddington Valley Division !
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Played around a little with Helicon Focus and adding a new background in Photoshop. Thanks to Rich Yourstone, Tom Mann and Ed K. for the tips on weathering the MEC Geeps.

Nothing new this week...  Fixed up a couple of things that got bumped around during the process of moving stuff around.  Otherwise, I'll just take a moment to pull a shot out of the archive to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Well it's been a long time since I have had anything to contribute but I finished up a pair of NW2's in BAR solid blue. All they need now are the decoders put in. I did these for a fellow Forum member mec_fan.

Hey Richie did you change out the trucks on that S4? Looks great!!!
Marty, nice MEC scene. You need a pair of U18s now.  ;)

I've been fairly busy and productive this week. The 6 inches of snow that have basically shut down Portland for the last 8 days have helped a bit. Of course having a couple space heaters in the garage to get the layout up to a reasonable temp to work in helps too! I'm really glad my garage is insulated well and sealed well. I've typically been starting off in 44 degrees and turning on the heaters and working. It takes a couple hours but it will get up to 70 degrees and stay there.

Anyways, here's the pics...

First up is power poles. This is about half that I have built. I still need to add transformers to a few and I may add wires to some in the future as well.

I built this tunnel portal last night. Need to add some scribe marks to age it and then paint it. Probably do that tonight. I've been looking at some portals built of anchor bolt cement and thinking this may be temporary until I can get one made that way.

I built a BLMA electrical cabinet and put in a foundation and stone pad for it at the end of a string of power poles. This was really easy to do and between the cabinet concrete footings and stone pad I probably spent 1/2 hour. Nice improvement for so little time.

I travel for a living and I've grown tired of sitting in cities away from home and not having any train stuff to occupy my time when I get free time so I've devised a way to take some modeling with me.

This is all nestled inside my check bag where it will hopefully withstand the TSA and the airlines 800lb gorillas. My worst fear is that it gets stolen out of my bag but the mechanism is removed from the shell and the tools are easily replaceable. I hope to be able to detail my fleet of MRL SD45's during this years supercross season!

Happy Holidays everyone!
