Weekend Update 12-21-2008

Played around a little with Helicon Focus and adding a new background in Photoshop. Thanks to Rich Yourstone, Tom Mann and Ed K. for the tips on weathering the MEC Geeps.

That's REAL pretty there Marty. I do have a suggestion though... I think the grills can still use a little more wash work on them. They look a little "center hot", where the center is nicely blackened, but the outside edges aren't quite as dark. This happens to me a bunch, and I always end up having to go back and hit them with another application of the hooch.

Nothing for me. Crazy busy week at work, releasing two major apps and preparing for two weeks off, plus a weekend of holiday shopping. Most I got done actually was making a sign for Chris...

A little late getting this in (since I just finished it today.... :)  I've spent a lot of time focusing on engines, both detailing and painting.  Just another of the many engines that i finally got around to.  I still have about another hours worth of work to finish it off.

Brian, that SD is sharp. I do have a suggestion though, and it may not bug you, but it's one of my own pet peeves.

I'd hit the cab interior area with some black paint. It's always bugged me seeing the external color showing through where the shell extends through the cab.

I never really noticed that before, but now that I've looked at it again it's an easy fix.

Good point, and I can see what you mean. I need to work a little on the second unit before doing some more closeup pics - I'll rework the grills on both engines.

Lots of locomotives have that industrial gray paint all over the inside, so some kind of gray works pretty well also--there aren't any details like the larger scales but it sorta draws your eye pass the window and sunshades just enough, giving the whole thing a bit more depth. It looks pretty neat when you watch your trains at eye level.
