still have not found any of my sw1200...

I think I know where to hunt next, not that there are many places left....

Ed, when I make a Chassis for you(god willin')  have you considered
what you will trade for it ?

ok found the victim... parts donor :

30 ft truck center is the same as the sw1200

ummmm 30 ft. times 12 is 360 inches  and that is 2.25 inches
after one scales it it out. The  ll sw1200 measures at 1.75 inches

off to hunt another answer...

I progress slowly...

I found a drawing that looks in proportion.
I think the truck center to center is 22 feet
the wheel base is 30 feet. ooof

I need to take a picture.  it is a cnw sw1200. 

OK Ed K,  you want massive flywheels and lower gearing right?

You can get the LL SW chassis to within a few thousandths of an inch thicker than the motor and still have a working mechanism.  I'll have to measure it, but the measurements given look like they will work with the mechanism I made to fit in the Trix H10-44 shell.

The LL motor is too fat so you would have to get the mechanism thinner than the motor. I doubt you'll be able to do that.

a little sand paper and some elbow grease.
good to go.

the Atlas mp-15 is a better candidate.
the motor is thinner.  darned shame the trucks are not interchangable.

so far I have thinned a motor....
and picked the worms.

I will have to make flywheels.
the trucks interfere with making big flywheels sad to say.

and the trucks are geared at 26 to one.  and are very hard to re-gear.

Good luck on this Ed.  With the 44 tonners coming shortly, I wonder if the motor in it would fit.  I know nothing else scales out (wheels spacing, etc) but the motor just might (plus DCC to boot).

I don't know , the preproduction shots of the 44 Tonner look as if the hood is a bit wide for a 44 Tonner . Could be they took some liberties in dimension to fit existing electric twisters than come up with a leaner one to fit a properly scaled hood width . If nothing else though , we wind up with a short wheel base drive that might be good to adapt for things like the HH 600 ,  H10-44 , and maybe a SW-1 . I think Randy and Chris will be clamoring all over the new fodder . I look forward to the surprise adaptations that no doubt will arise .
