Rapido - New Player in N Scale Varnish

Got an email last night that Rapido will move their passenger car line into N scale.

Their HO cars are stunning, though many of the paint schemes offered are not on the correct floor plans of the cars. Each modeler will need to decide if they are particular about how close they are to their prototype.

Operating on three other railroads right now, as I deconstruct the PRR Eastern Region. I've sold off all my N scale brass, about half of the locos, and about half of the rolling stock.

Will likely be building in HO... PRR at Lewistown. But that's at least a year off.

I did retain my N scale Penn Texas passenger train and have ordered a Broadway Limited... for use with the local NTRAK group.

At $47 a pop (list) I'm glad the WM bailed out of people moving before my era!  Sheesh!

But consider the prototype fidelity!  Now you too can loose money on passenger operations!

Those HO rapido cars are incredible. If the N ones are 75% as nice, well, I might have no excuse not to add some MORE AMTRAK stuff to the roster.

The Rapedo products are based on Canadian National prototypes ( wow, something based on a Canadian prototype eh ?) and are outstanding - Jason (the owner) is a "train nut" so he's going to do his best to make em right - I'm looking forward to this new series of cars - if they follow the HO model, the coach and cafe-bar will be the first cars... wooopppiieeee !

I would have to agree that the HO Rapido cars are real nice. I was able to pick up some D&H cars for another forum member and I almost kept them for myself( I don't model D&H, not that there's anything wrong with that ).

If the N scale versions are just as nice and the fact that they are delivering different roads, not just talking about it, I would get some I am sure.

I don't care how many "bogus" schemes they do, as I'm sure Rapido will release all the correct schemes as well.  No worries there.  Even on the fantasy cars, Jason has made a concerted effort to get the colors correct, and pick the closest possible car names/numbers. 

This can only be a good thing.

Great news! The price is high, but as a Canadian modeler, I'll take the hit for some nice CN/VIA coaches.

FWIW, the test shots show a blue Via, green/gold CN, and a light green/dark green NP. The PWRS website lists these roadnames:

Those shots are N scale? I'm in SO much trouble between these and the newsprint cars.

Lets hope they cover CR OCS cars and Comet II cars.

They are doing a steam generator car in HO so we can hope......I made my own several years ago but would be willing to part with some dollars for one of theirs when available.....

Our new HO Scale "Oh, So Steamy!" Steam Generator Car actually generates a steam effect and expels it through the "blow down valve" on the bottom of the car.
