Weekend Update - June 1, 2008

I thought John was starting this a few minutes ago, but guess not. Got more done this past week than in previous months.

First, put a #905 Z scale coupler on my Model Power Pacific's pilot.

Note how the smokebox is modified to reflect B&M practice.

Then, I finally painted my bay.

Then, got started on the swampgrass "islands".

Hand muscles got sore cutting out the foamcore and Silfor for the "islands", so did the riprapped shore.

Nope, I got up to 390 and it was killing me, so I quit drinking beer and wine, cut my meal portions in half, and quit snacking. I drink absolutely nothing that has any calories in it, except if I go out to eat, where I'll still have a beer with my meal. When I got married and started work in 1962 I weighed under 200 lbs. and decided to get back to that weight.

It hit me that I never see any fat old men...think about that...

Since my "train room"(Storage building) has become extremely leakly, I decided to save up money for a new one. As a result, I had came up with the idea of using the biggest box I have to make a small portable but lightweight layout. The box measures 40" x 21.5" so it doesn't leave much room. I originally intended to have a reverse loop, turntable but couldn't make one fit. So I made a basic oval with a siding, and turntable.

I am 230 and 6 feet , I have been thinking a lot about it , but thinking more about those damn taste buds . I was skinny till I was 40ish and had to go on steroids for digestive problems . I am off steroids for years now but my metabolism has been changed by them . It's like I have the munchies . I need to eat less as well , but everyone around me wants to eat out at least 3 or 4 times a week . Temptation of a bad meal always wins over a salad .

SW1001's , but dummys.

Progress on the Z scale station from last week includes the roof eaves and (old distressed) gutters and downspouts, all brass.

The roof assembly simply press-fits onto the station walls.

Most of the early part of the week was spent trying to figure out how to get a workable coupler onto my Walthers plow.  I think I has a solution, I just need to figure out if I want to make it removable.  I also made some new doors and reduced the size of the coupler support casting on the plow blade.

Thanks! I was determined that, if I couldn't do it well, I wouldn't do it at all.

High-power reading glasses. Way better than those heavy, clumsy optivisors.

I am, reluctantly, getting used to it.
