Another model railroader told me about this forum, and back in the early 2000s, I had a lot of fun on an AOL forum (and I am hearing the sounds of the modem connecting) for model railroaders. I had an HO layout when I was in Atlanta, but ended up like almost all model railroaders tearing it down. It was amazing how much other model railroaders enjoyed tearing apart a 14' by 18' layout, lol.

Now I am in N and finding that my focus on scenery takes on a whole new set of dimensions (haha) in N. I hope to post a short video of my most recent progress in a corner of the layout, but for now, I am figuring out that process.

I hope it's ok if I post here few photos I took of  my favorite parts of your layout.


The swamp looks great (even better when viewed in-person).  The dead wood is an excellent detail.

The way the road continues into the backdrop is a great effect!


This one shows how effective the backdrop is (with some sky board visible on the right).  If I took the photo looking slightly more to the left to hide the blue area, it would look even better (but I was just taking few quick snaps). I could have cropped the existing photo, but that would have cut off part of the barn.

Thanks for visiting my layout, I enjoyed meeting you two. I didn't think I would see another model railroader, much less an N scaler, on the island. And, thanks for the compliments. The dead wood in the swamp was Kim's idea, and I will paint the dead trees a light grey for further effect.

The beer reefers at the brewery are for Walters (not Walthers, lol) Beer, which had my all time favorite brewery slogan. Walters Beer, the beer that is beer.

My name is Frank Semonious and I joined in search of scale vehicles. My friend is building a large N scale layout and me being a model car builder thought I would build some cars, trucks and vans for his layout. Side note: I was part of Doyle McCormick's crew that restored 4449, and I have a friend who owns a full size Porter tank engine locomotive , several box cars, a caboose and has hand laid over a mile of track, all on property that NIKE wants to buy! Hopefully I have room to build my own layout some day.

Howdy Y'all. My name is Dave, I am in my mid-30's. I live in the Vancouver BC area. I was introduced to the website by a friend who is a moderator. I am a Railfan in addition to modeling in HO and N scale, with my main focus on N scale. I do not have a layout currently due to space restrictions, I do however stay involved with the hobby by operating on friends layouts as much as possible. I also very much enjoy painting and weathering, along with super detailing locomotives and programming. I have become a bit of a collector over the years, but my main interests mostly involve BN/BNSF and MRL, along with a few shortlines around North America (Ex. Minnesota Commercial, Washington Eastern, Grand Forks and Kettle Falls International, Finger Lakes Railway to name a few off the top of my head).  I have dabbled in Freelance, T-Trak, Free-Mo and N-trak. Free-Mo being the preferred medium next to having a layout of my own one day. I look forward to speaking with everyone and learning what I can from the experiences here.

I met Dave at RMMBC this spring and he has become a regular operator at Tehachapi BC.  His beautifully weathered and detailed MRL units have been temporarily assigned to live helper service on TBC while they await new decoders and headlights from the TBC shops.

Hello, my name is Denny, I am from Italy and I model in N scale. After a 15-year hiatus, I'm back to model railroading. I once had a layout depicting a portion of the SP Coast Line in California set in the 1970s, now dismantled. Before that, I had an Austrian proto-freelanced layout set in early 2000s.

I'm now building a new (much smaller) switching layout reproducing a selectively compressed portion of the SP Burbank Branch, in San Fernando Valley, California set in the 1970s. I enjoy realistic operations and strive for a prototypical track plan and scenery.

Since I am new, I guess I'm not able to post any picture or link
