Weekend Update - May 13, 2007

Got back from the PRRT&HS annual meeting this week with 13 photos of models, but cannot upload them to RailImages.  > Ended up buying two books, one the PRRT&HS issued book for the meeting on PRR's Conemaugh Division, and the other containing PRR structure plans. The structure that won best on show for structures was of IA tower, which preceeded MG tower on the Slope. PRR's architects sure had an imagination, the tower looked like it was right out of the The Hobbit!



Saw several trains, including one with a BNSF boxcar with the "swoosh" logo - not impressive, IMHO. BTW, stopped one night in Asheville, NC, in the way back. Guess what showed in the Yellow Pages, under Hobby & Model Shops? Factory Direct Trains with a street address in Woodlin, NC - so you doubters, this evidently is actually a "brick and mortar" hobby shop, not just a PCM-BLI creation.

Allright, I've pounded the keys enough, what have y'all got for the past week, with photos if possible!

Greg,I like that tower,I wonder if it is or has been or will be a kit?Anyway thought I would contribute a pic of some of my weathered CSX locomotives.

All three are ATLAS Dash 8 40Bs.I will most likely end up stripping and repainting the Conrail unit as it is way to light coloured.

I have been working on an area of the layout that I call The Narrows, and also an area called Joree Mine.

This is an overview of The Narrows. These are what I call "scout films" .. I use them to analyze what additional work I need to do to the scenery.

This area is what I call Joree mine. It is a loadout based on the New River Mine. The M&O is dependent on coal for a large amount of traffice. There are several mine loadouts on the layout. Again, this is a scout film to help me with my work planning.

I got back in town from NYC, and found out at the last minute that yesterday was MBK's last day at their downtown location. Needless to say, I drug one of my friends down there with me to catch their last hour. I'm still adding captions, but here's the gallery:

Hmmm, at 400%, the girl in that first photo looks a bit like she's selling something other than model trains.    Looks like the employees will have a lot to keep them occupied for the next 4.5 weeks moving all that stuff to Cockeysville and setting it up.

Roger, if you're referring to the beer, I haven't seen that brand since I moved to Florida 26 years ago. I drink St. Pauli NA and Kaliber when I drink anything resembling beer.

It was my springboard to fame and fortune.  ;D

It seems eveybody enjoyed the weekend a little bit away from modeling.

I was working on a few pieces of my crane. Those are the wheels that move the crane on the dock. They won't be motorized for now but I made them free rolling just in case.
