Wellcome to the April 2007 H0 Weathering Challenge.
The Rules:
1. The entry must be of the same car type as the prototype picture, and must attempt to match the protoype, including any graffiti or paint modifications. Additional details may be added, however, they shall not count for the voting.
2. The entry must be
a H0 scale model
.
3. The entry must be submitted by MIDNIGHT, US EASTERN STANDARD TIME, 1 June 2007 ! Voting will commence on 2 June, and continue for 10 days.
4. Picture size: max. 800 x 600 ! (bigger pictures turn out to be blurry because the forum software sizes them down !)
5. In progress photos are encouraged.
And this is this months car:

Wow....not a lot of action here. I for one am going to finally try and get involved. Looks pretty close to the Atlas 3-bay covered hopper, so now I'll have to try and track down the right decals. Not a lot of EL and Conrail here in western Canada.

I'm not gonna be in this one either unfortunately-& possibly any more for the rest of the year.
Not that I don't enjoy them-just way too much going on with other projects, my fiance' & I
house hunting & securing financing, illness in my family (Mom) in other words, as Milo from
Bloom County would say, everything's just "higglety-pigglety" right now.
But doing my best on what I
am
working on-& need to get some more of what I've
been neglecting "moved on."
The proto is a really neat car to replicate. I'd like to give it a whirl if I could. But gonna
sit back & watch Butch work some magic, & have no doubt he will!

I just discovered this & it surprised the crap out of me. A railfan
bud from the UK is currently visiting over here this week-had a
great time on 4/11 with him railfanning at Sterling even though
it was cold & rainy.
Paul is a super guy-loves American railroads, Railboxes (like I said-
super guy) & just a lot of fun to hang with. Anyways, I was
perusing his website a little further, & it seems he caught the
subject of this challenge also during one of his past visits here.
http://usatrains.fpic.co.uk/p31753993.html
I probably won't be able to get in touch with him until he gets
back to the UK (he's currently all over NE Ohio for the rest of
his stay) but when he finds out he'll get the biggest
kick out of the fact!

Jeff,
Good seeing you yesterday. I saw "goingincircles" and a few others from MTW.
There is two other shots of the car on
www.rrpicturearchives.net
.
NRLX 46214. I tried to link it, but it didn't work.
Can't wait to see your car. I'm going to Seattle on Wednesday, I'll be looking for more rust and graffiti.

Along with Jeff, I too didn't get mine finished/missed the deadline. I've painted this car several times and erased it, started over. Just didn't get the colors right and just not happy with it. I too am going to finish this. The lettering just didn't show up after removing the mask, etc. This is what the car looked like yesterday at 12 noon and what it looked like at 7:00pm. It's been the hardest challenge so far. Jeff & I will have to have a delayed entry of our own. Now time to strip it again.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.
