Speculation thread. What is the next diesel and steam loco we are likely to see?

Rapido and Prarie Shadows are making new FAs so the snide comments are as academic as they are inappropriate.  How well those models sell on the market will determine if additional variations will be forthcoming, as is the case with nearly every other N scale model ever released.

My guess would be a GP50 and U33/36B, which would fill in the void of 4 axle medium horsepower units.

It will be a U36B, because I left N scale to get one in HO.  You're welcome.

No no no, what you were supposed to do is painstakingly kitbash one in N scale, become dissatisfied with it, then switch to HO...That might have gotten one produced for Nscale.

Not to rain on anyones parade, but the U33B had only 4 "original" buyers, and the U36B had only 3 . The U30B, OTOH, was sold to 11 "original" buyers. And of course this does not take into account secondhand owners for any of the above, but from a numbers standpoint the U30B has the most options for sales, whereas the U36B was basically a SBD only locomotive, save for a few sold to Autotrain and CR...

I'd like to see another U boat, but I've heard the U23B N scale sales weren't all that great. I'm guessing that is one of the reasons we haven't seen more U boats in N.

I'm in for the U28B.

Atlas did the U30B in HO, so I've been expecting it in ever since (years now).

I am kitbashing one, so maybe when I get it done ...

Personally, I'd like a phase II U30B and a GP50, both Phase I and II

If Atlas won't redo the GP30 to this century's standards, I'd like to see them do another switcher.  Either the Alco S-1 or even better for me the Baldwin DS-44-1000, specifically the later 6 cylinder version with the shorter frame.  Plenty of road names and paint schemes for either.

The Rapido and Prairie Shadow Alco units are FPA-4s. There still doesn't seem to be any N scale DCC-ready/sound equipped FA-1s on the horizon. Maybe Bachmann will surprise us.

Bachmann did the FA-2 in HO, so maybe there's hope!
