Great job Chris!  I would have never guessed this was Z scale.  Was the grain elevator a kit or did you build it from scratch?

Thanks! The grain elevator is a laser-cut wood kit. I basically weathered it while all the parts were still on the fret. I went over both sides with Minwax "Provincial" stain to seal the wood. After it dried, I spray painted it white. After that dried, I went over the wood parts with 000 steel wool to give it the wore and weathered look. Only after all that was complete did I start building the structure.

Looks like the grass works best in Z scale . So does that tell us something ........... would longer grass .......... , does it come in lengths ?

The grass does come in different lengths. Check out www.sceneryexpress.com to see some of the many options for both color and length. The autumn-color grass I used here is 6mm length. I added some variation with some 2mm summer blend (it's what I had on-hand), so it wouldn't look so monotone. If I remember right, the 6mm length works out to to be a little over 4' in Z. BTW, MicroMark has an "economy" static grass applicator for around $35. That's what I used, and it works great. Beats the heck out of paying $100+ for some of the applicators I've seen.

Or one can roll their own for even less.  Plenty of construction info is available on the Interwebs (and even here).
