The mention of the coreless motor came from Bachmann directly. I have a copy of an e-mail from Lee Riley that mentions the coreless and the new equipment purchased to build the coreless motors. It also mentioned that they are looking into new "pick and place" robots to allow them to build smaller decoder boards in house for future projects.

Disclaimer: Lee also thought the original 2-6-6-2 had a 5 pole in it until the great motor uprising of 2009. I think after that, he would be a little more careful about stating specs.

It's not in the reviews, it's in the News & Products announcements and it says that very thing along with a dual-mode DCC decoder,

From left to right:

MP eight wheeler with SPECTRUM USRA switcher tender, MP eight wheeler with older Bachpersonn SPECTRUM USRA standard tender (oil bunker substituted for coal load), MP mogul with newer B-mann SPECTRUM USRA standard tender and Bachmann ten wheeler with SPECTRUM USRA standard tender (stock).

As you can see, the USRA standard tender overwhelms this one, which it does not do to the MPs.  My initial impressions of it are also on T-board.  The USRA switcher tender would have been a better choice for this one.

The decoder is dual mode.  I do not use DCC.  I am using a MRC 2800.  You operate this as you would the 44 and 70 tonner.  You turn up the throttle until the light comes on, then ease the throttle upwards.  It will start slowly.

In the background to the right is the Peter Witt streetcar.  It is a SPECTRUM offering (the ten wheeler is Standard Line, although with its SPECTRUM tender, it is more a mongrel than anything else, call it StandRUM?  SPECTard?).  It is also equipped with a dual mode decoder, it runs well.
