Which one is 59827 or are they all?

Here's a new one for me.  I ordered 4 ESU decoders for my Fox Valley GP60s. The plug n play type. Here's what arrived, different from the pic listed. Same number though. 59827 (as stated on the box).


Then I did a Google search and came up with these.  Odd...




Are these all differing versions of 59827 over the years?  I don't see the point in the extra wires on the version I have if it's truly a plug n play decoder.  Anyone have experience with this one?  I'd think I could just unsolder the extra wires from the decoder board and I'm good to go.  Or maybe not?  It won't fit in the plug of the GP60 with 3 of those wires soldered on the plug end.

Just to clarify, the 2nd pic in my post is what was shown in the eBay listing, but pic 1 is what arrived.  These are not returnable, so hopefully what I have will work.

And so what does the third picture represent?

Off the top of my head, there's a few different six pin decoder versions running around from ESU:

basic six pin
six pin with attached wires for capacitors or similar (spitballing, please check the manual)
six pin but at 90 degrees
six pin but separate from the board and connected with ~3 inches of wire

For an FVM locomotive, the first two are fine, the third (90 degree mount) doesn't work, and the last depends on the unit... very awkward to impractical in a GP60, less so in a 70ACe due to the extra space required by the wiring harness.

I have 59827s that have the wires.  Maybe they stopped adding the wires at some point?  (I hope not, easier to cut them off than solder them on.)  The wires are for extra functions, and are optional to use. 

The third picture shows Next 18 version as well as the 8-pin harness version

Heard back from the seller today.  Luckily, these decoders work fine for the GP60s.  The extra wires are for extra functions if needed, so I trimmed them off and the decoders work fine.  Excellent, actually.  The SP units crawl along together perfectly and silently.  Tomorrow will be the ATSF units.  @samusi01, the 3rd pic is just another decoder that showed up in my search with that part number.
