A C630 with Dofasco trucks is good. I wonder if it will come with the nose HL.

Would also like to see how the shaft will be linked to the flywheel , I have 2 of the first production and that system was weak , would like to have a permanent fix to the sliping ...

I wonder if it will be a totally redesigned mechanism, like the C424?

I only rarely use a downvote, and when I do, it's for egregious violations of the spirit and intent of the forum. Personal insults from one member to another, angry diatribe about something trivial, posts that are vaguely (or explicitly) racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., or obvious attention-whoring... I certainly don't see anything in this thread that should warrant one. Stating that a manufacturer's announcement contains nothing of use to the poster is hardly grounds for a downvote; I've often done the same (especially with Athearn lately!).

Putting on my former moderator hat...

The voting system does help the forum self-moderate, but it was never meant for personal beefs, whatever those are. Don't like a forum member? Don't read his/her posts. There's even an ignore button for that very purpose. But downvoting personal preference or information you find inconvenient...that's just petty.
I once got petty and downvoted every post on member ever made, but he was modeling a camp in 1945 Poland...

To that end, what are thoughts on the C424 drive now that folks have had a chance to give it a workout?

I wouldn’t lose sleep or give a second thought to a single downvote, because it’s easily possible that someone unintentionally fat-fingered the down arrow.

That said, I like to downvote everything that @Dave V posts, because . . . reasons! 🤣

I replaced the drivetrain with a Briggs replacement. They are great pullers now.

I remember that. That was a top 5 "WTF?" moment on TRW.

Atlas has already released a sound version of this mechanism so I doubt it would be redesigned but you never know.

Well, I failed to look at the Spookshow's site.  That was the initial phase of Atlas chassis redesigns. They retained the split frame design (still my favorite), but made is screw-less and also trucks got hardwired.  From that perspective another total redesign is not likely.

The recent C424 has the chassis which is the next evolutionary step in Atlas chassis - completely new design, no longer using vertically-split frames and everything wired.

Hi Jerry, I would imagine the dofasco trucks would fit existing Atlas C630s, I think the chassis have remained unchanged.

Great!
Will have to see, if singular parts will be available...
