Atlas loco announced with Micro-Trains coupler!

I believe the Kadee/MTL coupler patent has expired - if so, it has been open season on that design for a while.

Big nothing burger to me as any of the coupler options Atlas has in-house is OK with me.

I hear you. I never order New York “style” pizza or bagels unless I am home in NY or NJ. If a 1015 “style” coupler is like a “New York style” pizza in Iowa, I will pass.

This happens to my posts a lot.  These are not "respect points" they are "vote me down if you simply don't like my thoughts". If I posted something nasty I would understand the downvotes. But more often than not the downvotes are simply because someone disagrees with my opinions about something.  If the forum also showed who voted and how, a lot of this nonsense would stop.

I am curious on the "Dofasco" trucks..
Would they FIT the older releases of the "C-???s".

I have so many, I haven't (for 20 years) and don't plan on buying anymore, NEW units.
Being able to 'Canadianize"  my existing ones would be Great!!  .

Well, I forgot that the mighty Atlas acquired BLMA.  Did they use those MTL clones on any of their locomotive models, or were they only used on the ex-BLMA items?

Atlas used the 1015 clones on the BX-177 and the intermodal well cars (40 and 53ft), but I think those were all BLMA designs.  Trovestar says so about the BX-177.  (Oddly, Atlas' webpage for the 40ft well car has a reference to Accumates but they do not have them, as you can clearly see from the picture and I can corroborate for the ones I've got.)

Atlas policy generally seems to be to stick with whatever a model was originally tooled for.  However since (as you know) the 1015 was originally designed to replace the rapidos in Atlas/Kato locos, I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a switch on tooling that followed that standard and is already completely compatible like that.  For one thing they'd no longer owe licensing to Accurail.

Hi Jerry, I would imagine the dofasco trucks would fit existing Atlas C630s, I think the chassis have remained unchanged.

Complaining about down votes seems to be a solid method of acquiring Up votes. 

I got a downvote once for stating correctly that the MT appliance boxcar had the incorrect roof. Life went on.

I would much rather see a one sentence comment from someone disagreeing with my post rather than the anonymous downvote.  At least I would know who and why commented on my post. I don't know about you but I observed some member just serially downvoting bunch of my totally innocuous posts. Probably because they just don't like me, hiding behind the anonymous online "respect"system. 

I'm not the only one who doesn't care about this voting implementation, and while we try not to discuss it, sometimes things flare up a bit.

The artwork seems to show equally spaced axles on the Dofasco truck, which would indicate they are not tri-mounts with new tooling for the sideframe. Then again, they look to be too long for the Dofasco truck. Time will tell.

I thought they looked a little long in the wheelbase, but comparing the artwork for them to that of the Hi-Ad trucks, the Dofascos do indeed appear to have a shorter wheelbase.

These models will also have an improved wheel profile, and the sound file package will have the Canadian horns.

I only rarely use a downvote, and when I do, it's for egregious violations of the spirit and intent of the forum. Personal insults from one member to another, angry diatribe about something trivial, posts that are vaguely (or explicitly) racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., or obvious attention-whoring... I certainly don't see anything in this thread that should warrant one. Stating that a manufacturer's announcement contains nothing of use to the poster is hardly grounds for a downvote; I've often done the same (especially with Athearn lately!).

Putting on my former moderator hat...

The voting system does help the forum self-moderate, but it was never meant for personal beefs, whatever those are. Don't like a forum member? Don't read his/her posts. There's even an ignore button for that very purpose. But downvoting personal preference or information you find inconvenient...that's just petty.
