Finally finished printing the Jasper Station model.  I gave up on the ABS 3+ resin and got perfect prints with Elegoo 8k resin.  Even the tiny evestrough on the edges of the roof printed perfectly, something the ABS kept messing up.  I probably almost broke Tinkercad exporting these files, but I am very happy with the result.  I'm out of time to paint it but figured out the colors on a scrap with a quick and dirty paint job with microbrushes.

How did you do the roof shingles and stone textures?

Shingles are a sheet I made in Blender and then trimmed in Tinkercad.  Capping shingles are oriented TK blocks.  River rock wall was made by Meshy AI from images of the station.  Imported as object for use in TK.

Yup, it's true.  This week, I stole some Kato Unitrack from one of my Kato CoLA car sets, snapped 'em together on my drafting table and attached my old DC dual throttle pack to a bumper section to use as a test track for various DC locomotives I'm working on.

Then, I snapped two more sections together and put 'em on my second to highest shelf on my Gorilla Rack storage shelf which is almost eye-level and sat my old Kadee N-scale coupler height gauge on it to easily test N-Possible coupler conversions I'm doing.

Gotta say that Unitrack is near perfect for my applications (did I really just say that????)

That's a New South Wales 38 class Pacific.  3801 still wears these colours today, green with gold pinstriping.

I added a couple more cars to my White Pine layout. Both are pretty heavily modified. One started as an E&C mill gon and the other as an Atlas flat. Styrene and brass added before paint and decals. NP couplers on both.

The foamers were out in force in remote northern BC on Aug 1, 1977.  The work extra that was spotted crossing Pine River on its way out from Chetwynd was also spotted returning from Dawson Creek, seen here meeting the Dawson Creek Switcher at Tremblay:



The siding held the work train with (scale) inches to spare:

I made decent progress on a couple projects this week.

Rokuhan 0-6-0:  The decals are at the printer.  The tender is pretty well complete and gloss-coated, but still needs to be wired.  I'll be installing N-Possible couplers.  The engine itself has air reservoirs added under the cab, pistons wrapped (to cover a gap), a shade added on the front headlight, smokebox painted graphite, and the smokebox front painted "silver" per SP practice.



AZL Dash 9-44CW:  I also am doing this ex-BNSF patch-job per I&O practice but the loco number is a foob, I just didn't want to bother stripping off the road number.  I&O's actual ex-BNSF C44-9s were in the 4400 series so it's fine with me.  Lettering was stripped with 99% ISO, and it took off a bit of the striping--but that's fine as the prototype has the same chipping.  Front and rear logos patched with BNSF orange paint airbrushed onto decal paper in a masked area, and clear-coated, then applied like a normal decal.  This loco will get some light fading and "toaster" effects as they seem to have had stack fires.

I also took on a "contract" job for one of my club members. He loves my C415 that I did using a CMR 3d printed shell, and he asked if I could do one for him. Of course I can't say no to project, so here we go again. Got the shell in the mail, and it started some of the prep work. Got an old RS3 shell from my friend to scavenge the fan, and got it mocked up. My friend is supposed to be sending me several RS1/RS3 donors to use for a mechanism, he basically has told me to pick the best running of the bunch to use for this. I need to confirm with him, but I think he also wants sound, so that will be a new adventure for me, in the sense that i have not done sound in a hood unit yet.. The good news, is he wants to paint and decal it. Which means I get to deliver it in primer and not worry about the final paint job. Which makes me exceedingly happy because I really do not like painting for other people. I always worry that my paint jobs will not be good enough.

Mostly quiet summer over here. My son broke his arm a couple weeks ago so he's taken to JFRTM. My Amtrak stuff has been getting some miles. Maybe I'll get around to weathering and adding the rest of the details to these things this winter...
