That is a very realistic weathering, especially all those fine rusty streaks above the large splat below them.  Any chances there will be a tutorial on how you did this?

The really good looking stuff is decals from Weathering Solutions, otherwise it's mostly dry brushing using AK Interactives rust or streaking grime

Ah,  so those are decals?!  That's cheating (but there is nothing wrong with that since the results look great!) Much better than what would be capable of.

I bought these at a show years ago and just put them on Lee's hand-me-down last year.

I spent the last several weeks slowly chipping away at this car, COER 171599, for paper service to the corrugated box plant on my layout. I wound up doing both sides to the same prototype photo because I made a couple mistakes on the first side, which I was somewhat able to cover up. No big deal, it’ll be the backdrop side. However I’m really quite happy with the door. I also just realized I forgot to get a picture of the roof but that’s the other part I’m really happy about because I was able to achieve the subtle look I wanted compared to the super rusty roofs I do on my 50’ers.

Backdrop side:

Aisle side. The rust is primarily three layers: the first is a layer of gouache, which I was trying for the first time, then Brandon powders to soften the hard lines, and finally my favorite method for rust, pan pastels in a matte oil varnish. The rust scratches were made with thin brushes, a very thin one from Michael’s and a 6mm nail art brush. I also achieved the fade with green Bragdon powder. The ends of the cars were Bragdon powders

And here’s a comparison with a fresh COER boxcar. Scaletrains did a good job overall on these ExactRail cars, but the green is a bit too vibrant to my eye.

I made an oops this week.   Not gonna say what's wrong (NKP fans will know) but here's the evidence:

Into the dip it goes...

Will try again after repainting.

I make a Trinity sodium chlorate car built 2000-2001. They were originally numbered GACX 8205-8325.

Here it is between sitting between two round chlorate cars.

Should have the build details and print file links up for the N scale U.P. rotary snowplow in the next few days.  Meanwhile a video of it almost done....

I'll post back with the rest is up.

Keep making them, and maybe Rapido will finally get off their HO plans and announce them in N scale.  Better yet send me a few, or the file ( I have a printer ) that I can print a few and show them I don't need them now :D
Exceellent work !

My layout entered a new chapter in construction this week with initial scenery work at Septimus.  I took the plunge and started excavating the terrain either side of the right-of-way to lower it and create variation in the landforms.  My sub-roadbed is 9/16" donna conna so I can go down up to half an inch if needed:

Excavation either side of right-of-way at south switch Septimus:

Same at north end:

Overview of Septimus after excavation work; ready for plaster base:

Work continues on the museum train official car.  The roof has been sanded, primed, re-sanded, and a few details such as drip rails, roof vents and grab irons added:

I did some road construction and planted some weeds along the ROW.  Needs weathering and some details but it's coming along;  I'm contemplating the signals and telephone/power lines that need to be installed next.

I made a test 3D print using Resione K+ resin of this Z scale gon.  Suffice to say this is my new "go to" resin, there are significant improvements over the other stuff I was using.

I also worked on some WM decals, but that's a story that can wait for another day.

Finally rigged my crane. I still need to do some work on the gears so it drives better. But it’s progress!

Free standing grab irons in Z scale!? Amazing!
