Has anyone made a oil bunker for a Botchmann 2-8-0?

ok, last time that I asked about my new run Bachmann 2-8-0's, someone kept ignoring me about the run, so here is a freaking picture of the model showing that it is the last run.

I realized that the coal load pops right out, has anyone created an STL for an oil bunker to drop in?

I did a SPish  4-8-2  conversion for a friend.  I used an article from a Ntrack locomotive book edited by Ed Kapuscinski. It was for a Bachmann 4-6-0? just styrene, some Archer rivets and I think an Alco HO scale sand cap.

I don't model the steam era, but from the few pictures I've seen, most oil bunkers were quite basic - just a square tank with a filler hatch.  If you're handy with styrene it would probably be about as easy to make one that way.

Not everything nowadays has to be 3D printed. Some old-fashion scratchbuilding from plastic sheet could do the trick. Old-school baby!

Just to show you a 'real one', and the oil bunker is literally a lift-out in the tender body....   Texas State Railroad 300 (one of the military 2-8-0's) that was converted to oil.

Note that the tender side sheets have been cut down, but the slope sheet is still in there, trust me.    The entire tender has now been replaced over the years, piece by piece.

The visible part above the tender is really just a basic box.   Couldn't be easier to make out of styrene.   Our new one is all welded, too.

Ultimate N Scale makes a oil conversion for the Kato Mike (two versions), but apparently it works for some Bachmann tenders as well.

I scratched one on a Rivarossi tender for my K-2 Project some years (eons?) ago.







Using a few bits and bobs from the junkbox, and a few reference shots and a visit to the Holy Shrine of the 202 in Hagerstown Park, I feel like I got close enough to be good enough. 

Wish I knew where that engine was now.  Probably at the bottom of someone's junk box.

Produces a whaleback as well as a number of Vanderbilt sp tenders, but I think you are looking to use the Bachmann tender.

about three weeks ago, I ordered some bunkers from Ultimate N Scale, emailed him twice, tried calling, googled his name and it looks like I found his obituary from 2018...

If he died in 2018, I seriously doubt if the phone line would still be in service. I'll try calling sometime this week, I might need some more mothballs.
