I remember me and @MK where there once pre covid for a warehouse sale. Interesting place, like the island of misfit toys, got an undec GP30 sample for $35 which is still my go to ole reliable.

Indeed it was.  I remembered people got there early and waited in line a little bit.  Certainly a scene to see all that N-scale "stuff" on shelves and shelves.

You should have seen it 40 years ago when they were still manufacturing HO scale and N scale track and printing/printing N scale freight cars on the premises.

I also saw it that many years ago (1987)...they were producing both HO & N rail from large coils of Brass and Nickel Silver rail. You visited the warehouse by going across/under the street via a tunnel. They were also wiring up the solenoids for the electric switches

IIRC I remember when you and Paul were at the huge N Scale show in Chantilly . . I think it was RunniN' TraiNs '96   ...

'96 was before my time. I joined in 2003. The only time I was in Chantilly was for the NSC in 2004.

Have very fond memories of that event.

With 461 convention delegates and over 12,000 members of the general public in attendance, Northern Virginia NTRAK Club's RunniN' TraiNs '96 (1996 N-Scale East Convention) was the largest and best train show that I had ever attended during that period of time

Then described as the "Largest Layout in the World", comprised of 315 modules that covered a distance of 41 scale miles, the show's NTRAK setup pioneered the "Red Line Route", which enabled trains to traverse the entire layout.

Engineers who ran a train along the entire route were presented with a Medford Trains custom decorated N-Scale Life-Like Northeastern Style Riveted Steel Center Cupola Caboose.

I also went to the first UnConvention in Richmond . that was a great event ..

A little story ...

Because the layout was DCC - I purchased a DCC decoder for an SD50  at the show .. Being a total noob, I managed to screw up installing it .. I went over to Digitrax booth for some help, and Mr. Ireland took a look at it .. he said it was dead, but that he didn't have another decoder with him . I guess he felt sorry for me, because he went over to one of his dealers, and grabbed a decoder from him, installing it in my loco and tested it for me .. He told the dealer he would send him an extra on his next order .. I've been a digitrax customer ever since .. talk about service ..

Here here. That 96 show was amazing.

Running a tonnage train over the hills and dales that resulted from being in the parking garage while walking NEXT to it was just... incredible. I think it's one of the big reasons I'm still into this stuff 30 years later.

I had a very similar experience with the Digitrax team at the Denver Convention in 2006. While DCC has changed and evolved, I still stick with Digitrax.
