Broadway ES44 Rear Coupler Too High

Trainworld commissioned Broadway Limited to produce a special run of ES44 locomotives decorated in Pennsylvania 5 stripe Brunswick Green.  It looks like a fine locomotive and it runs.  However the rear coupler is high connecting to a Micro-Trains car.  I am unable to push the shell any further down on the frame.  Any others have this situation?  I have considered looking in my bins for a Mico-Trains underslung coupler, assembled, that is my Plan C.

Yes, it would.
Shimming the existing coupler box (so it sits lower) would be the correct solution if adding a shim is feasible on this model.

And this model cost how much?

It's a "special" model but why can't manufactures do it right?   Too many expensive release have issues it seems to me.

Surprised it wasn't found during QA/QC. If that was completed.

I just checked my Chessie heritage unit that came in last month and coupler height is about dead on

Just to confirm, is the shell actually seated where it should be? I know you say the shell won't go any lower. Spookshow says that the couplers need to be removed before taking the shell off.  Maybe try removing the shell to see if there are any abnormalities to the mechanism that won't allow the shell to sit where it is supposed to be?

Since the couplers mount to the chassis, I don't think the shell seating could have any influence on coupler height. If the couplers themselves are OK, maybe there's something funky with the trucks.
