Micro-Trains Husky Stacks: Truck-Mounted Couplers on Earlier Runs?

No, I'm definitely thinking of the MT cars. Some of the artwork for these cars (like what might be displayed at a hobby shop) clearly show truck-mounted couplers, but IDK if that is what the actual models ended up with. I have a (more-recent?) set of these cars with body-mounted couplers, but I just asked someone on the bay who is selling a different (older?) set and he says they have truck-mounted couplers (this is a set where the artwork shows truck mounts). However, he may not really know what I'm talking about.

MTL cars were designed and produced with body mounted couplers.

Some of the artwork used for advertising shows a body mounted truck as this was reused from their Z Scale model that uses a standard truck mounted coupler.

Ok, that makes sense, but I believe Glenn from the post above yours says he has one with truck-mounts. Glenn?? And I'm talking about the N scale cars.

I just double checked my pre-production sample and it is body mounted. I forgot to take a picture.

This MR review does not mention the couplers but you can kinda see from the top down the pin hole that the coupler pocket fits into from the bottom side. The TTX 'Forward Thinking" repaint was the first MTL release of this car.

Now for the Roundhouse/Athearn tooling....Earlier Roundhouse cars were truck mounted, with later Athearn releases being body mounted. I don't remember when the tolling was updated on these but it was early in Athearn's N Scale push.

OK, that sound pretty definitive then, especially being in possession of a pre-production model.

Still curious as to why I have two sources stating they have cars with truck-mounts.

I just checked mine - all 8 are body mounts. If you're just looking through the box without taking them out, they do look truck mounted. I can see where someone would easily make that mistake.

I read the question wrong.  I have the first car and it has body mounted couplers.  Sorry for the confusion.

I should look. I believe Micro Train walkways were plastic and the Athearn/MDC had medal walkway. Bolsters pin?

These are one of those things that I bet Atlas is gonna make quite a bit of hay with.

The MDC cars most definitely had plastic walkways that were not see thru and the longer ones liked to sag in the center. IDK if Athearn changed any of this. The MTL ones have open holes but I'm not positive they are not plastic.
