I noted that one of the cars on the cover of the current catalog (not sure which scale) https://www.samsonrchobbyshop.com/catalog.html was a 50' boxcar, painted as an ATSF reefer, with "Ship and Travel" slogan, and no roofwalk.  Now, from what I can see, they favor bright colors and all that... still, it's clearly a boxcar, and... well... bright Indian Red with a huge white ATSF logo seems just as bright, and isn't intentionally wrong.  Just sayin'.

But, that said, if someone out there with more knowledge of ATSF practice in the late 60s through the 70s is aware of SFRD sliding door boxcars.... please do correct me.

the BX-136 came in a few flavors. like the one you are asking about, it also came with white doors, No slogan but billboard lettering pretty much all were XF Food loading.
built 1969. The specific car should have had white doors and a silver roof. But does actually fall into a proper number otherwise, 39500-39999.

At least for now I think I'm just going to ignore them as far as my freight car encyclopedia is concerned. If they don't take their models seriously enough to document the prototypes, I don't think I will either.

For the same price, I can get a ScaleTrains PS4785, and that one has separately applied details, prototypical paint schemes. The Value Trains one looks to be printed as one piece, and the details are pretty crude.

Checking random cars, the BN boxcar says it is an ACF car, however, not sure how accurate it is to an ACF prototype

It think all the fantasy schemes deter prototype modelers and obviously they aren't prototype modelers. The price doesn't seem too bad to me considering how much things cost these days, but I'm not going to buy a bunch of UP heritage/special paint schemes on generic box cars.

Well..
It's like they looked at 3 Rail O scale (specifically Menards) along with N Scale Collector.. and decided to make a business model out of it..
If it sells, fine.. but eventually that market in N scale will be tapped out and you need to expand.

Hopefully they expand the offerings and get into more prototypical accurate schemes.. and maybe dive into weathered cars.

No one else was doing it and he decided to give it a try, best of luck with him.'

As a side hustle, he has bought two pad printing machines and plans to do custom work as well.

That just brings to mind my whole thing with O gauge tinplate stuff: I don't understand why people go through all the work of making this stuff to make something ridiculous instead of something somewhat realistic. I just don't get it.
