Value Trains USA?

What's the story on these guys? It looks like they sell some sort of N scale boxcar model (or models) in various paint schemes, but "N Scale Boxcar" is as specific as they ever get.

I was just looking into it last night too..

I've seen their stuff at Train Shows the last few years and I thought it was some generic Chinese crap, BUT..

They make HO, N and now Z?..... in Missouri.. so I guess add that to the list to US Mfgs...

Interesting.  In N scale they have a 50' boxcar of unspecified prototype.  They have a PS-4785 covered hopper as well, and (alas) yet another 40' PS-1 boxcar.

Looks like 90% of their paint schemes are pure fantasy.    The roofwalk and other details on the 40' PS-1 seems pretty crude in this picture:

There's a thread on the AZL forum about the Z scale version (50' rib-side boxcar).

They're 3D printed, foobie schemes.  The paint jobs look inkjet printed but not sure..

I think they look ok, but not quite up to the standards of AZL or MTL/Atlas.  Of course those are big shoes to fill.

I'll have to look at them closer when I see them at a show.

(Then again, Until this week... with Zero research...  I thought it was a knockoff Chinese product...)

Midwest Models has listed them for several years now. Always thought they looked like cheaper knock offs of schemes N Scale Enthusiast might offer done by a less skilled graphic designer.

I've got a couple of their boxcars. They seem 3D printed, and the paint job wouldn't pass inspection with a magnifying glass. But they do run well and if there's a fantasy paint scheme you're interested in, they do the job nicely. I'm almost sure they use MT trucks and couplers.

I noted that one of the cars on the cover of the current catalog (not sure which scale) https://www.samsonrchobbyshop.com/catalog.html was a 50' boxcar, painted as an ATSF reefer, with "Ship and Travel" slogan, and no roofwalk.  Now, from what I can see, they favor bright colors and all that... still, it's clearly a boxcar, and... well... bright Indian Red with a huge white ATSF logo seems just as bright, and isn't intentionally wrong.  Just sayin'.

But, that said, if someone out there with more knowledge of ATSF practice in the late 60s through the 70s is aware of SFRD sliding door boxcars.... please do correct me.

Well, no nevermind for me, with my cutoff date for rolling stock of 1956.

At least for now I think I'm just going to ignore them as far as my freight car encyclopedia is concerned. If they don't take their models seriously enough to document the prototypes, I don't think I will either.
