Hallmark 1st run SD45 Coupler?

Can anyone tell me what coupler they used on the 1st run (black box) Hallmark SD45 brass locos? The M-T website lists the 1023/25 but that coupler has no chance, yesterday, today or tomorrow. The distance from the end of the truck to the coupler pad/screw is EXTREMELY tight. I have tried every M-T coupler in my arsenal and the only thing I can think of is using drawbars? Any help is appreciated.

My Hallmark SD45T-2 (silver box) has what looks like 1015s.  MT has changed the 1015 box at least once, so today's version may not fit.

Is it important to you that MT couplers be used on this unit? There are various coupler solutions too numerous to mention that can render your unit usable. (sic!)

One trick brass manufactures (and I) use is to cut off the back end of the 1025 coupler box.  That shortens it quite a bit, but  since the front  of the coupler box is welded, it will stay together.

I've done that on 1025s I've assembled, that aren't welded.  The secret is to screw the box on before cutting it, and leave enough that the spring can't fall out.
