Help identifying the railroad that operated these RS units.

I acquired two custom made RS shells in a collection of miscellaneous parts. They are what appear to be cast originally from Kato made Atlas RS3or RSD4/5 shells. As you can see in the pics, both have three exhaust stacks instead of the usual one and two small fans where normally there was just one large one. One of these smaller fans has a rim around it while the other doesn't. The clear shell has cut-outs on the sides for what I assume would be for vents/louvers. The gray shell does not have these.

Any help in identifying what railroad owned these units would be appreciated.

Pretty sure those are PC/Conrail rebuilds?  I know there were several variations on those.  The clear shell looks 3D printed.  And its cutouts make it a later phase shell (though I'm not sure it's completely accurate).

Another possibility-

The old Kalmbach "Second Diesel Spotter's Guide" has a photo of a Missouri Pacific RS-3 rebuild that, in profile, looks a lot like the unit in the pics. With a similar manifold on top with 3 stacks.  The photo does not show the roof, so I can't be certain about the fans, but it is described as being rebuilt with an EMD 567 prime mover, and those fans look like EMD fans.

The photo is MP 1080 (original number was in 961-999 series), which they referred to as a "GP-12" and they also rebuilt RS-11s, and called those "GP-16".  MP rebuilt quite a few, the dates of the rebuilds according to the book are 1964-65.

Tom, I think you nailed it. The attached pics show RS units that match the clear shell I have. [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ] have perfectly.

Those are MP GP-12s, similar to PC/CR RS-3m, but MP used offset fans.

I think the mix of fan types was not standard across all of them, but there was a good MPHS Eagle article on modeling these a few years ago I can check.

Nice photos.  In those, the raised fan on one side is evident.  Looks like you have a project ahead of you.
