Why no FreeLance N scale models?

Rapido did Mike McGrattan's Puddington Valley lines didn't they? I could have the name wrong. It was a gondola as I remember.
As far as famous N scale layouts, I would have to say Grant Eastman's Southern Alberta Rail, though I don't know if he has anything besides locomotives done in his paint scheme. As mentioned above, the Reid Brothers Cumberland system. Now that I think about it, the Tenino Western might be popular too. Us N scalers would know these freelanced layouts, but I wonder if the HO guys ever bother to have a look?

Those things used to draw a ridiculously high amount on evil bay.  I had one from a collection I was helping move, the buyer was prepared to pay $200 or something stupid.  I looked it up and now its just a common car, didn't have the greed to take his money, knowing he'd look it up at some point

Look at most of the n scale set ups and train shows and a lot of them are running big modern era trains.   Look at a lot of HomeShops HO offerings.  What are they ?  Big, modern era equipment.  I'd say a very poor business decision to run 40' boxcars as their first N scale offering.  It's like Rapido saying n scale doesnt sell when they get poor numbers from barrel ore cars, Canadian passenger sets and 17 versions of Santa fe reefers.

Agreed, I saw on Facebook when they hinted at an N scale announcement, I got a bit excited hoping for Per Diem era 50' boxcars, but then they did 40' cars and was disappointed. If they did some 50' per diem eras, I'd be all over them.

But yeah SAR has probably done more for shaking the stigma than any other N scale layout I've really seen printed. Mostly bcs a lot of people don't realise its N until theres a shot with behind the curtain stuff.

The SAR has to be amongst the very best examples of what you can accomplish in N scale. Grant’s use of space to create sense of place is a truly a masters art, and it just wouldn’t work in the same space in a larger scale. The only obvious tell its N scale are the couplers, and that problem is now solved too.
