Bowser HO SD40-2F DC to DCC sound

I have an HO Bowser SD40-2F, dcc and sound ready. I have read the Stewart Hobbies dual cube speakers are recommended, but I have no experience with them. Apparently they just plug in? I am going to get an ESU loksound 21 pin decoder for the loco. Just curious if anyone has done one of those installs and if it is actually that easy.

spoke to a friend who is far more knowledgeable then I am regarding Sound installs, he said this is exactly what the did the bowser speakers for, however, apparently ESU has made a speaker that is approximately the same size housing but sounds much better. So I have sourced some of the plugs that are required and I am going to try that.

I personally use Scale Sound Systems speakers and love them. The guy behind it is an audio engineer from what I understand, and these are designed to work with the speaker to reproduce the sounds with as much depth as possible. The only way for it to be better would be to use an under layout system with multiple speakers. You do need to solder the wires from the board to the leads so if that is above your skill level they won’t work. I use these with ESU speakers and I love how my locomotives sound.
