So this is what happens when you put a center hole truck on an offset bolster car.. :D

https://micro-trains.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5578&search=NYC+baggage

I guess I'll need to move the bolster..

But the weathering is killer.

I still don't see what's wrong.  I've seen baggage cars with the trucks at the ends, rather than inset.  Without vestibules, the trucks can be closer to the end.

Is the problem the larger gap between the inside edge of the truck and the center frame?

Maybe the original car had 3-axle trucks and was retro-fit when turned into a MOW car.  But I'm no expert on PC MOW cars..

I don't believe the car originally had 3 axle trucks. But in looking at the car over at https://www.rr-fallenflags.org/pc/pc28147ags.jpg the trucks on the Microtrains car are  a bit too close to the ends of the car. To me it looks to be 2-3 feet off. I believe this is what the OP is pointing out. Did I win?

Now that I see the proto photo, I see another problem.
(the NYC/PC car appears to be 60', the MTL car is 70')

Yeah it's not perfect. It definitely plays the part OK IMHO. But that weathering is awesome as it is on the previously released 4 car PC MOW set. If I wasn't limiting my PC era to 1975-76 I would have purchased this and the other MOW car set as well.  But in this time on the PC it was likely maintenance by crisis on the railroad sadly.

I gave up rivet counting when I couldn't see an N scale rivet anymore.

In some locations in the Northeast, jet engines mounted on cars with the nozzle pointed downwards, were used to clear snow and de-ice switches in yards.

I think you won. Agree that the car likely had 2 axle trucks it's whole life and the truck placement on the model is due to the offset bolster.

If the car tracks well, I think I will leave mine as-is. It looks great, as do the cars in the new PC MoW set.

I'll try to make up for my earlier mistake- here is a diagram of the NYC 8431 series (originally 3361 series) 60 foot car with 4 wheel trucks-

No big deal for me .. I'm going to chop off one end and graft it to a single window coach to make a combine. Have to repaint it. I wish MTL would run another set of individual baggage cars and single-window coaches (along w/ other type) in various roadnames and undec, for projects like mine. Not going to buy a 4-5 car set just for one car type in it.
