N SD-40 ?

Does anyone make just a standard N scale SD-40.  I'd like to do a PRR SD-40 that has DCC and sound.

Kato has since 1991 they even did PRR years ago.

They made a dcc ready version around 2002, and if you have an original kato sd40-2 mechanism you can swap trucks to make a dcc ready SD40 mechanism.

Think yeah only Kato and OLD Bachmann did the straight 40s. The Kato runs good just has the usual overly wide hood, but generally looks fine as long as you don't put it next to a Scaletrains offering.

Bachmann did a GP40, never a SD40.

I keep hoping we'll get a modern SD40 in the same vein as the Atlas SD45.

The Kato model was ok 30 years ago but between the wide hood, unfixable number boards and (ironically too low) ride height issue, they're just not up to modern standards.

No joke, I have thought about kitbashing one with Atlas parts.

Agreed it would be nice to have an Atlas SD40! Ive stared at their GP40 hood many times considering how to kitbash one.

A non DB SD40 is a must have if you're modeling the upper Midwest!

I know its not a 40, but if you arent already aware Atlas did do a SD45 w/ Sound not too long ago and you can still find them in PRR.
