Has anyone installed these on some freight cars (either the older or more modern styles)? I've been searching for photos of cars with these installed to see what they may look like and how they are installed, but haven't found anything. These could be a nice detail addition, but I'd don't want to order a batch if it's not worth the effort.

The two versions of cut lever MTL recently started selling as separate parts are the stock parts on their PS-2 covered hopper and the 60' modern flatcars. They're not selling the version that's pictured in the post above on the Plate F boxcar.
Here is the modern outline flat version installed, with N-Possible couplers of course...
And the PS-2 Hopper version...
I find the modern outline version on the flat to be particularly fragile; The examples on my booth demo cars have all broken, although in fairness they've seen a fair bit of abuse too. They're even hard to cut out of the tree without breaking, and I'm pretty skilled at such tasks.
The PS-2 hopper version is also very easy to lose although not as fragile.... I glued the examples on the car in the photo after loosing one on another PS-2 hopper I had, but being acetyl they don't glue that well.
If you're applying cut levers to random cars, you might want to consider the Atlas nee BLMA etchings.
