@Stolen Moment Thanks- always looking to improve the instructions!  Actually all of them are magnets, for a really strong connection. You just have to make sure that they are all aligned for attraction.  It really gives a satisfying click when the mags make contact.  I suppose you could also use a pull/push rod to move the points as well if you want to keep your fingers off the track, but they are firmly against the rails.

Reviving the Keystone Customs Concor/Rivarossi Passenger car steps with integrated snap-in 1015 coupler pocket- item number KC-0021. N-P couplers should fit if installed in 1015 box.  Design allows for a 00-90 or M1.2 screw to be added if you don't trust adhesive only.

I'll see what I can dig up back from when John @Lemosteam developed these for Shapeways.  Not today though!
I suspect these will be nicer than the Shapeways-made parts were.

Resurrecting the first KD offering!  KD-0022 is the item number for the PRR Sand dome, originally designed to replace the horrible Bachmann version, but will work on any PRR boiler, including the Trix shells. Note that I have painted one sample and the striations you see will disappear as the layer height is a mere 0.03mm.

@Lemosteam 's announcement got me to revisit my stash of these steps.
One impediment has been that, while John's step upgrade is terrific (and easy), it makes for a tight fit for the original trucks, and makes it even more obvious that the original trucks are way undersized.   My solution has been to apply Micro-Trains #1187  6-wheel passenger trucks - the ones they use on their own Pullman-Standard heavyweights.  These have a significantly offset bolster hole, and the only way to make them work is to construct a new bolster.  Doable, but WAY more work than the step conversion itself.

Today I came across a set of the Micro-Trains 1186 trucks - same thing, but with the bolster hole closer to the center (they call it a "short offset bolster").   I popped a pair on a Rivarossi Pullman that already had John's steps on it, and it's not bad.  A little off, but pretty close:


On the left is a car with the 1187 trucks in as close to the correct position as I could manage.  On the right is a car with the 1186 trucks using the stock Rivarossi bolster hole.
It's a little inset, but not bad, and a big improvement over the undersized stock Rivarossi trucks.

When I click the link in the first post (right after the "Click this link") I get a Google document.  The first page looks exactly like the image in the first post but it's a spreadsheet.  Then you click the tabs at the bottom to get to the items - either "Keystone Details" or "Keystone Customs"

You can tell by the URL if you got the image or the spreadsheet.  The image has "https://www.therailwire.net/forum..." where the Google Doc has "https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/..."

Microtrains 1015.  The shorter one.
