I like it, but I think many of the strands in the first pic are too horizontal.

Try the pinch technique.  You put down a spot of tacky glue where you want grass, then take some static grass, roll it in your fingers into a nice blob of vertical grass and gently dab the grass onto glue.  Works like a charm and best of all, no equipment except your fingers.

That's how I did it and vacuumed the excess. I have popped those other strands up Ed.
