A couple days ago a white face GP30(GP39E) come through on the Denver/Pueblo train....Yesterday it was leading the Pikes Peak local.
OK. I normally am "up" on appliances like the stuff on the cab roof - especially RF stuff - but that junkpile on the cab roof has me flummoxed. That's beefy enough to be a base for a pan. I can't imagine that's just antenna supports.
The Railwire is not your personal army.
They're PTC antennas, a pretty impressive plinth for them that's for sure.
Those EMD styling guys never thought about having to carry entire sat farms on the roof of the 30. It would've been science fiction back then!
I knew from the olden days replacing top hats with Excalibur skates that the GP30 cab roofs were thin, but gawd that's overkill.

What is that hopper carrying?
History books will show that these reporting marks belonged to the Delaware and Hudson originally, but now are used for the Delong company. Built in February of 2025, the MDDE took this covered hopper out of the Perdue Hurlock feed mill with what might have been it's initial load. (Attachment Link)
It’s so clean. Was this taken this week?
