Does anyone else find it ironic that one member is posting their design and build of a 3d printed sawmill, and another is posting their design and build of 3D printed trees?

And this friends is how n scale lumber is made

That’s pretty funny right there.

Well played! That was the funniest catch of the day!

Wow I had no idea we had advanced to this level. 3d trees. This is an Oak with no leaves.

I downloaded the OBJ file the STL wouldn't download - not sure why.

I made a free 3d printable tree. Make sure to support those lower branches. Enjoy - that was a fun diversion thanks @Sokramiketes

Nice find!  The industrial version is Speedtree, a video game and animation design studio.  I should start a separate thread.

Tired of your fragile supertrees breaking? Not fond of the unnatural branch angles?  Wish your trees followed Davinci’s proportions of trunk thickness to branch volume?

The future is here.

Think of how great winter modeling just got too.

I've been wanting to figure this out for years.

That tree is very cool, but perhaps not the future.  There were tree generators back when I taught 3d modeling in the 90's.

Of course back then, the polycount would just crash your computer.

Jason

I'm glad you talked yourself back into the future.   ;)

Now we just need a corn stalk generator.

Interesting, how is that used?  So you got to visit during some of the years when they were still partially operating on steam  :).

Yes, I could use some, 2-3 1/2 ft N scale diameter and 30'-40' long (2', 2 1/2', 3' and 3 1/2 foot dia.).

I designed some as shown in the debarker above but would like some with more realistic bark. I don't want to have to learn Blender just to make some logs but might have to.  Haven't found a good video on using it for logs that will scale to N scale.

How about ditching the 3D logs and using actual small  twigs as logs?  I have found  some twigs which have pretty realistic looking bark.
