Tired of your fragile supertrees breaking? Not fond of the unnatural branch angles?  Wish your trees followed Davinci’s proportions of trunk thickness to branch volume?

The future is here.

Think of how great winter modeling just got too.

Dude. Holy crap. Did you make the tree cad model?

Maybe AI generated the model?

I finally got down to doing some track work on the East Norwood layout, pouncing center lines and making some adjustments to the track plan.  I did a quick/dirty mockup of Zumbiel Packaging in Tinkercad as a 3D flat with an interior rail dock.  I'm planning to made much more detailed 3D printed version--just modular wall sections that will take cardstock brick "curtains".  There's a bit more in the Layout Engineering section.

In the process of starting to lay out the track I determined that I wanted a tool to help aligning the double-track sections, so made a jig for Z scale double track flex track spacing (on 1" centers).  I added it to my Thingiverse if anyone wants to make one.  I also made a Z scale coupler height tool and a spacing jig for the cork roadbed.

Also, I got some decal and paint work done on a Reading 52' gondola--it still needs some weathering before I call it done though.

After 4+ years of waiting, work on the new layout officially started today.

It's not much, but it's not nothing either.

Pay no attention to the corner lifting up - that'll get fixed later.

Yes, it'd be nice if you told us where the tree model came from, who makes it, what sizes, etc.

That tree is very cool, but perhaps not the future.  There were tree generators back when I taught 3d modeling in the 90's.

Of course back then, the polycount would just crash your computer.

As spring approaches and the piles of debris melt off my workbench, I built a Frankenstein DCC/analog test station. It is of three parts. First from the junk box parts,  a decoder tester, for wired decoders. Second a DC test track with the PWM throttle that @Sumner described in the DCC forum.  Third a programming track, that utilizes a Sprog III, and  JRMI .

With this contraption, I finally got the decoder installed and programmed, in the re-motored 0-6-0. This project has been gathering dust for a year and a half. In another year may be the cab will get rebuilt and the details put on.

Hey @Sokramiketes let us know how you achieved that. I know there are a few generative tree OpenScad code bases out there. Is that how you created that?

Well done BTW.

Wow I had no idea we had advanced to this level. 3d trees. This is an Oak with no leaves.
https://drajmarsh.bitbucket.io/tree3d.html

I downloaded the OBJ file the STL wouldn't download - not sure why.

I made a free 3d printable tree. Make sure to support those lower branches. Enjoy - that was a fun diversion thanks @Sokramiketes

Does anyone else find it ironic that one member is posting their design and build of a 3d printed sawmill, and another is posting their design and build of 3D printed trees?
