Trainworx Rio Grande caboose

Just got my notification that these are on the way from N Scale Supply. Will look great with the Scaletrains SD40T-2 Rio Grande's.

Got mine direct from TW since NSS only listed like 10 of each variety and were sold out in 2 hours of the yellow cabs.  I am sure that some dealers with start showing up on eBay for truck like prices soon.

Try direct from TW. N scale supply still had some stock over the weekend. Hardly anyplace had them in any kind of significant numbers. N scale supply sold out in less than 3 hours in most the orange models. But the had not many to start with. I haven’t seen them anywhere else.

I got two from TW. A museum caboose and an unnumbered orange caboose..

Those grab irons are incredible! Are they etched metal or plastic?   

I do wonder about the raised relief on those roof panels. It's too overscale and makes the roof look lumpy. Micro Trains did the same thing on their passenger cars. There's got to be a better way than that.

I was wondering the same thing. IN the photos the end railings and ladders look like painted photoetched parts. they appear to have a flat, not rounded cross section.

I think the body and cupola grabs are plastic. The end railings and ladders are etched.

No, since this is basically a collector’s piece for me. The trucks appear to be FVM leaf springs with FVM wheels.

Thanks.  Fox Valley never made those more modern leaf spring trucks.  The kind on the B&O wagon top caboose was an older variety. So those might be new.

The Fox Valley trucks didn't have electrical pickup did they? These do, and they're available separately...

A million years ago Pat sent me the CAD etch artwork for this caboose just so I could understand how the layering worked to have stuff professionally etched. It was so easy to just look and see how it was done. Really helped.
