Does it always have to be blue? My walls are a light gray color and I may just leave it. Opinions?

For where?  Sky color reflects the location.  Eastern air has more humidity and pollution so often that color, while wester skies are generally brighter blue due to drier, often cleaner air.  Many exceptions and seasonal variations to these generalities.

That color looks fine for a gray overcast day.  Nothing wrong with it IMO.

Consider what kind of lighting you'll have.  If you have bright, direct lighting with distinct shadows visible on your models then a shade of blue would be better.  Gray backdrop (sky) implies cloudy/overcast with less distinct shadows, so if you have bright lighting casting clear shadows it may look "off".   Or go somewhere in between--that's what I did.  I went with a hazy blue-- so some haze/pollution or humid conditions but with a decently bright "sun".

What I did.

Bluer to the left for desert skies, hazier to the right for Midwest.

Yep, there are certainly overcast “gray” days, so nothing wrong with that.
