The Most Wanted List

What's on your list of most wanted new items for N scale? What hole in the current offerings needs a product to fill your need?

I'd love to see a N scale version of one of Kibr's Liebherr or Gottwald mobile harbor cranes.

These things are used on docks and piers everywhere these days to lift break bulk, and even containers in places. Be nice to have an N scale model to build. Plenty of HO ones out there in plastic, and die cast metal, to choose from.

FM H/10 and H/12 switchers in N scale.  Come on manufacturers!  These have been available in HO for years and were used by nearly every Class 1 back in the day (and then by a ton of short lines and industrial spurs).  Atlas, this wouldn't be much different chassis-wise from the VO-1000.

And because I model the NKP, a new Berk that has the running quality of the Walthers/Life Like produced back in the late 90's/early 2000's, with the pulling power of the Bachmann Berk, AND a working Mars light.

I have a couple: the GP15D/GP20D, B23-7R (super 7), and GP50 (come on Atlas).

I just don't want to have to design them all.

I’m a big C&O fan and like some of their more oddball locomotives of the first generation. I’ll join the chorus for Baldwin road switchers by asking for an AS-616. And perhaps a more modern redo of the Alco RSD-12.

I also really want a 60’ heavyweight mail-baggage car with a 30' RPO. I know MT has the 70' mail-baggage but I really like smaller cars on a small layout. I’ve thought about splicing one together but I don’t think my ability to pull this off satisfactorily is there quite yet. Perhaps someone can 3D print one?

And finally, even though I’m more of a branchline kind of guy, it would be hard to resist if someone did the 2-6-6-6 Allegheny. But only if the model was a great puller.

In terms of locomotives- THIS
FM H/10 and H/12 switchers in N scale.  Come on manufacturers!

My other locomotive wish is for a GTW U3c or U4b.  Which I see as somewhat less likely than winning a $1 billion lottery. Of course, if i win the billion $$, then I can buy my own manufacturer to make whatever I want.  In the real world, I would gratefully settle for a resin or 3D shell and figuring out a drive for it.

Freight car- some variations of those ARA era composite boxcars that EVERYONE used to make, back in the 70s, or Mather cars, and other composite cars.  If someone is printing up ATSF Bx-11/12/13 with the modified tall roof and would be willing to print some extra for a reasonable price, let me know... Also, something I would love to see- accurate replacement sides for 50' gondolas, since almost all the 50' models in my collection are just foobies that should be 52-53' long. They will be kitbashing fodder as soon as Bluford starts delivering accurate models.

And... last but certainly not least... the COMBINE that has been teased for the past decade.  At this point, I don't care whether the windows are single, double, or ATSF style wide.  Just, you know, a combine, any combine-but 70 some feet.
Tom D.

I gave up rivet counting when I couldn't see an N scale rivet anymore.
