The trucks from Trainworxs arrived today, the shipping was Super Fast!
I felt like I won the lottery when I saw there were a couple Tri-State commodity trucks available.

Notwithstanding the venue's crazy seller pricing, with bid prices ranging from $140.00 - $370.00 and a few already completed listings, the Trainworx Coca Cola Tractor Trailers have been showning up on eBay.

Can we now get back to our regularly scheduled production runs ?  I've got a bunch of LTL items on pre-order and would like to start planning how I'm paying for them

I've got about $800 worth of their trucks preordered from a few years ago. I'm sure they'll all show up within days of the $900 in Rapido commuter sets I also ordered. Sigh....

Seems to me Trainworks is leaving profits on the table with this production model of unannounced, extremely short runs of product. It doesn't make sense unless the factory floor time is so limited they can only get the actual manufacturer squeeze their trailers in between other product runs.

The 2nd hand market prices clearly indicate untapped demand for these type of offerings.

We have this type of discussion every time Trainworx comes out with one of those "special" runs of their trucks. There seems to be huge demand, but TWX (for whatever reasons) keeps production runs low, which drives the 2nd hand market prices into stratosphere.
Not too long they issued an announcement that they will limit the number of models individual can buy (this time the limit was 2), but that does nothing to satisfy the demand (and high prices) for these models. As I mentioned earlier, paying $75 for a N scale tractor trailer seems in itself a bit unreasonable. But obviously TWX is not looking to cash in on these, because of they did, they could produce few thousands of these and get $75 each for them all.  The seems to be there.

Another surprising thing is licensing.  Large companies like Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, UPS, FedEx, and many others usually require that models which will bear their name or logos have to be officially licensed (which costs money and can be a pain in the butt to obtain).  I do not see any official licensing mention on the TWX packaging.  Personally I don't care about the licensing thing, but I wonder what the story is behind the scenes.

So I let it slip by when there were still 8 available
I should have just bought two and spun them
Then I wouldnt have one anyway but I would be $200 richer
Something is really just wrong here!

This is my guess. And also would be my guess as to why the page is gone from their website.

This is some guerilla stuff, and I'm here for it.

The thing that surprises me is he still puts them through his dealer network...

With that said.. As of 12/17/24 1630 Caboose Stop Hobbies had two behind the counter...

If I were Pat, I would have these be website direct order exclusives at full retail so he can reep all of the reward of the price these fetch..

... I wonder if his website marketplace system has the ability to do 'surge' pricing..
So, if demands is truly high (based on order frequency, the price bumps up accordingly (in real time)....

.. Remember this stuff pays for future releases and new tooling..

It turns out you can get black confetti in the shape of d'cks...

I think Pat is a highly principled guy and I respect that. He does not come across as an opportunist and I hope he stays that way.

These releases are very cool even though I have little or no interest.  8)

Speaking of future releases, I'm still waiting on the Kenworth K100s that were announced July 10, 2017. :D
