ESU LokPilot decoders in InterMountain FT diesels?

Has anyone installed ESU LokPilot decoders into InterMountain FT diesels?  The drop-in Digitrax boards leave a little to be desired, especially when trying to consist an FT ABBA set.  I'd rather use LokPilot decoders hard-wired in.  Just have to figure out the weird stock motherboard board interface and add a resistor to the headlights.  But if someone already has done performed the procedure, no reason to reinvent the wheel.  Thx.

I have done it and they fit well. I ditched the motherboard and used the screws for my pick ups with some ring terminals. The Decoder fits nicely and kind of hovers over the motor spot. I used sound decoders in the A units, but I did have to mail the frame for that.

Piolts should fit.  A friend of mine did Micro Selects in his WP FTs.

 I have a set of F7 A's that have Loc Pilots in them. It should be the same as the FT's.
I cut the light board and soldered the red and black to it. Soldered the orange and gray to the copper tabs on the motor. Used a 1000 ohm SMD resistor to the headlight.

I really wish someone did an adapter board for these. A socket board for the 59817 would be great.
