Evemodel Metal Wheel Sets ?

Searching for N scale wheel sets on eBay and I got a lot of hits for Evemodel ? I know of the freight cars but haven't heard anyone mention anything about the wheel sets used on them ? Anyone have any experience with these wheel sets and what's your take on them ? I recently got a set of of Model Power shortie passenger cars made in China which look identical to the older Mini-Trix ones made in West Germany. Upon close inspection their different from night & day and are not the same. I had problems with these newer cars derailing and found that that plastic insulator on one side had shrunk and the metal wheels fell right off of the insulator when removing the axles from the trucks. I had this happen on every single wheel set on all 4 cars I got. I thought the quick fix was to super glue the wheels back onto the insulators while gauging them and call it a day didn't return any better results. I pulled out my older Mini-Trix shorties to swap wheel sets to see if these cars would run better and discovered that the axle lengths were to short ? I measured the China models and they came out 14.2 mm were the Germany models are 13.6 mm . I search through all my spare parts of wheel sets and trucks I tossed in a jar over the years and none fit these Chinese trucks and all fall to short. That's when I discovered while searching wheel sets on eBay that Evemodel makes a 14 mm shaft length size and wonder if I could get away with those even though their .2 under size ?

I'm going to order a set and give them a try. . I can get a dozen for around 17 dollars . Worse scenario they don't work and become flat car loads and not out of a lot money. Will give a later update on my findings once I get the wheel sets in hand.

Sure got these wheel sets in recorded time. Ordered them the same day I did the on first update. Thought these would be shipped from China and have to clear customs only to discover the package was shipped from Walnut, Ca. So they either have a business or warehouse their shipping state side from. They shipped the set in a small cushioned envelope. The wheel sets come in a plastic hang tag carrier with a cardboard backing so you could hang these on a peg board. Removing  the staples (one on top the other on bottom) allows you to slide off the cardboard backing exposing the wheel sets in a small zip lock bag. The wheels and axles are all darken wth a insulator at one side of the wheel set.  Nice low profile flanges with all wheel sets in gauge. All sets also measure out  to the measurements given out on their eBay page. Though I question the photo used as the axle looked bigger than the 1 mm size advertised ? I'm thinking that was probably a HO photo used instead of a N gauge one as the axle did measure out at 1 mm. This is where everything took a left turn. I was kind of concerned about the .2 mm difference in axle length when I discovered the inner dimensions on the Chinese Model Power passenger trucks vary slightly in size. First set used on one car fit a little loose but held in place. Starting on the first truck of the second car they slipped right out. So I didn't even bother going any further. But I'm amazed that my Mini-Trix  passenger cars run like a champ and I did nothing but swap the couplers out to Red Caboose (FVM) dummy couplers. Germany made ones are better than the newer Chinese knock offs. Can't say for certain if these Evemodel wheel sets are based off of any prototype though ? At three foot difference  doubt any difference can be seen ? The packaging revealed that thought the wheels were made in China their also being sold in the U.K. &  Germany. Though the name for the company is a bit strange sounding of a supplier of model railroading goods ? Eve in German translate to the German word  "Abend" which translates back to English as Evening. So is the company name Evening Model ??  Who knows at this point ? But if your looking for a lower cost alternative in wheel sets give them a try. They make a couple different sized sets. I took one for the team so it's "0" me......team "1" so you guys are ahead. 😁

In my liste 14.2 mm axle length is (or was) used by Atlas.  The list says Atlas #22020 : "33“ Metal Wheels for Atlas trucks (14.2 mm), 4 pairs"
There should be also a matching old Fox Valley wheel size,  FVM 3302 or 3311 ("wide"). 

Please report about the result of your order,  I am wondering whether Evemodel wheels are the American size, i.e. with lower flanges, or the European standard size with HUGE flanges.

I have both US and european models, so I know both kinds of wheels.

Me too.

Some of the more recent releases of European prototype models have lower flanges than the huge ones old Arnold or Minitrix models used to have. They are still larger than ones in recent American prototype models, but the difference is not as drastic as in the past.
