I pre ordered 7 undecorateds and all 7 came completely glued together.

Can anyone confirm that the undecs don't come all glued together? I am considering one, but not if it is glued together like IM offerings.

It's a shame because otherwise they are really nice engines, both in appearance and operation.

Did anyone else notice that these DID NOT come with Accumates, but rather a MTL  clone? I picked up a Silver series unit planning on installing an ESU next18 Loksound  only to find out it is too wide,duh!

Maybe you bought the wrong ESU LokSound 5 Next18 decoder?  There are 2. 
The nano is narrowest (9.5mm).

Thank you very much for the enlightenment, @peteski! I thought the Nano was only available in the 24pin variety. I am a much happier camper now . I had the Micro on hand for another project, and was going to repurpose it for the 45. Looks like Bryan at Streamlined Backshops will be getting more of my money

I also just fairly recently found out about the narrower Next18 nano decoder, IIRC in another thread on the Railwire, so I passed the info forward.
What surprised me was that while it is called "nano", it is a totally different PC board than the original E24 nano decoder.

The Atlas Website lists the individual components but the $$$ are about 3-4X what an complete undec shell used to be when purchased ala carte
I contacted Atlas and got this response:
 Hello,
  Tell me the item number of the locomotive (on the end of the box) and I’ll send you a replacement shell assembly (not glued). Also send me your address.

So kudos to them for the customer support.

Can someone please confirm my thoughts on disabling the hideous cab lights on a DC model ? I’ve not disassembled the units yet but based on what I’ve read here it looks like I just need to disconnect one wire (?). I want to confirm that there are no other LEDs powered by the cab light wire as I DO NOT want to disturb and of the other lighting features. Thanks in advance.

Reminds you of the vintage N scale models where the unshielded incandescent bulb illuminated not just the headlight but the entire cab?  Oh, the good old days. 

I don't own this model, but since the model is wired for DCC, you can disconnect just a single wire, as long it is the negative side (in DCC positive side is the common for all functions.

I believe you can just unplug or snip off the wiring harness. or just take some black paint to the inside of the cab led... a few coats should do it

I do believe that someone on here in an old thread about the first releases of these gave a tutorial on how to disconnect the wire to the cab lights and reattach to another function output to allow the use of the light either on or off and control of the brightness. I’ll have to check my bookmarks since I had it marked to do to mine eventually.

Since I purchased the ATSF units, I have been wanting to use the Cab lights LED as the strobe light mounted on the cab. I wouldnt think it would be too hard, but I am not 100% certain if I have enough space or if it could be fiberoptic to the strobe. that and I still need to find the specific CV and function its under....

If you had a LokProgrammer or even JMRI DecoderPro you could easily determine what AUX output is mapped to the interior light and easily remap it for a strobe.

When I installed decoders in mine I simply unplugged the lead to the cab light from the mother board.
