Beyond running them out of Erie for delivery.

I have an urge to get an AC6000 just cause they look so cool..
It turns out you can get black confetti in the shape of d'cks...

Yes.
I watched a pair of them climbing the hill out of the Mohawk valley towards Selkirk with a train in early 1999.  I imagine I have an unscanned slide of that somewhere, but that box is buried pretty deep....

I don't think although a possibility is another railroad letting Conrail use them to pay back some horsepower hours or as part of a run through freight.

I went and looked.  It was 13 March 1999.  A much younger me labelled the slide: "Lower Rotterdam Junction, NY; gen ft east, Selkirk Br, 2 CSX AC60W".  I'm supposing that's them, though.

They were running elephant style.

Well that'd be post merger CSX.. Granted, still lots of big blue, but technically CSX power on CSX Track..

I guess I'm looking 1995, 1996 time frame..

How about new units being delivered?

I can't find much info on the demonstators "tour" (maybe dig though old issues of  Trains - CTC Board - X2200S - Diesel era) but they had to get from Erie to Proviso somehow.

Probably a safe bet BUEL delivered more than a few, it was common to get new GE;s on it WB out of Buffalo.
