Used stores?

I'm deliberately avoiding eBay as it's decided it hates me and wont give me an account after many years of custom.  I'd rather pay a private trader anyway.   
I have a drop shipper setup for shipping international, there pretty good and quite fast.
Can anyone give me info as to the whereabouts of North American based hobby stores that deal in used N scale?

Find some of the FB live auctions, sometimes can get good deals on used equipment.  Other times you just watch 2-3 go after stuff like it's the last one on earth and wonder why they pay do much.  NorCal, PnP Trains are 2 I frequent

Don't expect to find any good deals at these places. Model Train Market in particular seems to equate rare with expensive; they'll gladly charge more than double MSRP for something just cause it's out of production.

Trovestar Classifieds has a lot of good stuff. They need to upgrade their search, but when you find stuff its usually at a good price and no fees for the buyer.

That's fine. These places have higher costs than original retailers, and they need to make money.

Don't think of these companies as places where you'll get a deal. Think of them as opportunities to find things you otherwise can't. The higher prices actually help with that.

I've purchased several items over the years at Trainz.com for LESS than MSRP prices.  Yes, several of the items I've looked at are higher than what I'm willing to pay, so I don't buy those.  I've picked up a half dozen ATSF and SP diesels for what I consider very fair prices.  They were either earlier runs no longer available or road numbers I was interested in.

House of Trains in Omaha does some trade in used rolling stock, but they don’t catalog any of it and are not setup for online with the pre-owned inventory. It’s just a perk of shopping there in person. Last time I was there I would guess somewhere between 150 and 200 pieces in stacked box lids.

We do the same thing at Mainline, consignment shelf.  I'd say 75-85% of customers come in, hey how ya doing, and head to the consignment shelf to see what's over there.  I do same thing when I show up to work, never know what you'll find.  I got an Atlas Gold GP40-2 DCC/Sound etc for $100.  We had same locomotive in the display case new for $233

Making money is fine, and I expect people will pay a little more for harder to find items, but in one case I've seen charging $80 for a single WoT baggage car is far too much (especially when they were originally sold as a pair for less than that). That's very unlikely to sell for that price. Part of me wonders if they just set it that high so they can hold on to items longer to draw in more interested buyers. I guess they probably don't care about quickly moving things.
