New Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k S

Looks like Phrozen is coming out with a new, cheaper mini 8k printer.  Slightly smaller build plate, same resolution, however, single z rail instead of twin rails.  That's probably the killer.  $269 pre-order.

Meaning single z rail is not as good?

The more accurate the z axis travel, the better the print.  Two rails allow less play than one.

Yeah I don't understand why this new model?

Trying to entice new buyers with high end resolution at a cheaper price?

What's interesting is that there hasn't been anything revolutionary in the last 6 months or so regarding printer tech.

What's the story with the new revolutionary printer which is using tiny mirrors instead of a LCD screen to expose the resin?  That was supposed to be a major breakthrough.

If you compare them at the bottom of the page:
https://phrozen3d.com/pages/sonic-mini-8k-s

The file format is different the rail is different and there is 1cm less height. Scary part may be the new file name. :scared:

Just a few days ago I finally contacted Phrozen about the dead pixels on my screen (and second screen) for the Sonic mini 8k. They told me to do a light test to look for dead sections. The pixels are very tiny and there is no way to see one dead pixel other than it leaves a tiny hold through my models. I sent them photos and they told me it must be a Z rail issue and to loosen the bolts and retighten them. I really think they have no idea what my problem is. If it was the Z rail the whole model would shift a hair. My models are perfectly straight, but with tiny holes through them.

I think I am going to wait for a true DLP version. The LCD screens are just not reliable and have a planned obsolescence IMHO. Every other post on the Facebook group I am in for the Mono X is a post that goes, “This happened, is my screen bad?”

The Photon Ultra DLP is only $300. I've never seen it used for model railroad type items.

So trying to find out anything about the Photon Mono M5s

Quote
With a horizontal pixel size of just 19 μm, this printer can offer printing details as precise as hair thickness, making every print a masterpiece!

Someone suggested/asked: rectangle micro led?

Also looks like the auto level feature of the M5s is a spring loaded screen.

Everywhere I see it posted people comment how leveling the plate is so simple and many haven't touched theirs since they first got the machine.
