Here is a thread where I have some decent progress on my lake Cowichan section.
You did a great job on the orange bridge and the CN trestle, and the Malahat video is very encouraging. I knew exactly where I was the second the clip started (it helps that the bridge has such a distinctive outline). I had wondered how to capture a sense of the Malahat in a small space, but you've done it well.
The long part of lake Cowichan near the bridge over the river is a very nostalgic place for me which is why I’ve dedicated so much space to such an unimportant part of the line…
I think choosing a prototype with some personal meaning for you is key to going the extra mile on a modeling project. It's hard to believe that all that track has been gone for nearly four decades now. I remember how the Dayliner would have to stop at Hayward for the conductor to sign the train register, so anything coming off the Lake Cowichan sub would know that the passenger had cleared. It's all gone now, but it's slowly coming back to life in my basement.
